Limassol - Lemesos Resort

Every month throughout the year, there is something of interest taking place in Limassol, in the form of seasonal festivals, local events and religious celebrations. Popular things to do in Limassol include the springtime carnival processions in late February / early March, roughly six weeks prior to Easter, commencing with the arrival of the King Carnival.

These carnival festivities are the biggest on Cyprus and last around 11 days, with all kinds of entertainment options, such as fancy dress competitions, a children's parade, food stalls, open-air live music and Cypriot sporting events. However, it is the Limassol Wine Festival each September that draws the largest crowds.

Successor to two city-kingdoms and host to a Royal Wedding in the Middle Ages, contemporary Lemesos stretches along the south coast. Proud of the spontaneous hospitality of its people, its archaeological sites, its mediaeval castles and its merry Carnival and Wine festivals.

Lemesos is the island's most important tourist and wine industry centre. Hotels, restaurants and night spots abound along the beach whilst close by lie the pine-clad southern slopes of Troodos with the picturesque wine producing villages, the idyllic mountain resorts and the picturesque Pitsylia area.
